Stop Sumners West

Conservative candidate, Russell Perrin, has worked hard for many years to stop Sumners West. He has worked with residents and local groups to prevent this over development.

An article Russell Perrin wrote in 2016 about Stopping Sumners West:

As you are aware there is still a possibility of the West Sumners area being developed but at this
time there is no apparent movement by the prospective developer.

This is due primarily to the excellent work done by Stop West Sumners and I have been delighted to
have worked alongside residents to oppose this development.

There is one issue that has reared its head and that is the matter of the Ransom Strips, as many will
remember in 2013 Harlow Councils Labour Administration took an option to sell the ransom strips in
Sumners to enable the development to go ahead.

I am interested to see that the Labour Candidate has claimed that he has been working with local
people to oppose the development,

IS THIS A U-TURN BY THE LABOUR ADMINISTRATION?
HAS THE LABOUR ADMINISTRATION REVERSED THEIR DECISION TO SELL THE RANSOME STRIPS?

The answer is NO, there has been no decision made in cabinet or by the portfolio holder.

The only option available is to return a CONSERVATIVE Administration to Harlow so we can overturn
the sales option Labour still has in place and we can then officially confirm our policy against
development to the South and West of Harlow
